For 25 years, the federal government has provided funding to small business engaged in innovative research through the SBIR Program. This year there is a $2.2 Billion appropriation set aside for the SBIR/STTR Program. Eligible small businesses have an opportunity to compete for “Phase I” SBIR and STTR grants and contract of up to $100,000 to undertake a feasibility analysis on their idea, and Phase II awards of up to $750,000 to undertake their research.
